ABOUT THE EPISODE
How do you turn a good ear for music into a career? I sat down with music curator and content creator Ari Elkins, who launched the record label Blue Suede Records and built more than 2.5 million followers across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
Ari was furloughed from Warner Records in COVID, filmed himself dancing to eight songs on his dad's roof, and hit over a million views overnight. We talk about the niche question every creator wrestles with, why he keeps TikTok for music and YouTube for his life, whether filming your life steals the moment, and why he left the LA creator scene for New York.
He also shares how he posted David Kushner's first song as an unreleased demo before the stadium tours, and the solo trip to Brussels that ended with him serving drinks behind a bar.
