The conversation

IN THIS
EPISODE.

What do you learn about people after 2,000 conversations with strangers? I sat down with filmmaker and street interviewer Eric Jeng, who has talked to everyone from people living on the street to adult film workers and Taliban members in Afghanistan.

Eric explains why he believes upbringing and parents shape 70 to 80% of a person's emotional wellbeing, how he stares into people's eyes to stay present, and the woman in Colombia whose story fooled him on camera. He tells the story of the night a Taliban squad went looking for him after he got lost on a run, and the hard question he now asks himself: am I still loving the people I film, or using them for content?

I also share how three and a half months in Tulum and New York broke my idea of what my life could be.
