I Interviewed The Modern Day Da Vinci — Kevin Champeny

How does an aerospace mechanic end up selling a single artwork for over $300,000? I sat down with New York mosaic sculptor Kevin Champeny, who builds giant portraits from tens of thousands of hand-cast resin pixels like gummy bears, pills and flowers, for collectors including Drake, Mike Tyson and the Saudi royal family.

Kevin tells me how a bucket of resin fish became his whole art form, why a grad school turned him down for a portfolio that was too diverse, and how his business partner's daughter grew his TikTok to 1.3 million followers. We get into finding out he is on the autism spectrum, the 14-second clip that pulled 116 million views, and why the starving artist myth offended him as a kid.
