ABOUT THE EPISODE
How do you rebuild your life, and a business, after a loss that splits it in two? I sat down with brand builder and business coach Mel Yu, a former provisional psychologist who lost her partner to suicide at 23 and fell into an events job that became her career.

Mel talks about growing up Chinese Australian in Patterson Lakes, feeling not white enough and not Asian enough. She explains the gap between 'I am depressed' and 'I am someone going through depression', the Brené Brown line that takes the heat out of a fight, and why you can love someone but you can't save them.

She also shares how she lost $183,000 in her first year running Ego Expo, why sales comes down to trust and value, and what she told me when I admitted my own fear of not being enough.
