The conversation

IN THIS
EPISODE.

What if the reason you struggle in relationships started before you could walk? I sat down with therapist and professor Duey Freeman, who has worked with people and families for close to 50 years and taught at two universities for 34 years.

Duey was taken from his mother at birth when she went into a tuberculosis sanitarium, and he was on campus during the Kent State shooting in 1970, which made him turn down an engineering job. We get into his four steps from contact to intimacy, why he works with the two-year-old inside an adult client instead of their behaviour, why a therapist can only take you as far as they have gone, and how he uses horses at his Gestalt Equine Institute of the Rockies.

He also takes me through a live session on my overwhelm, and shares the daily sit spot in nature that keeps him present.
