How a 17 Year Old Girl Escaped Nigeria and Built a Media Empire From Her Phone — Sofi Ibrahim AKA The Odditty

What does it take to move to America alone at 17 and turn your story into a career? I sat down with creator and entrepreneur Sofi Ibrahim, known online as The Odditty, who left Nigeria on her mum's last dime and now has more than 1.2 million followers.

Sofi opens up about the professor whose threats pushed her out of Nigeria, the unpaid tuition that had her facing deportation until a full scholarship saved her, and turning 25 with her career flying and her mental health at its lowest. We get into the Our Parents Are Human Too game she played with her mum, what shaving her head taught her about other people's opinions, and how she went from struggling to run 30 seconds to marathon training.

She explains why it took three years to reach 10,000 followers and why she wants to be the next female Kevin Hart.
