The conversation

IN THIS
EPISODE.

Can a 2,000 year old practice calm a modern, overstimulated mind? I sat down with yoga teacher Ben Kalra, who has taught more than 4,000 classes and trained in pranayama breathwork, mantra and yogic meditation.

Ben walks through the eight limbs of yoga, the Yoga Sutra he lives by about showing up every day without clinging to results, and the breath holds he uses to settle his mind before he meditates. He shares how meditating before bed helped him quit a daily weed habit, why saying you think too much to meditate is like saying your teeth are too dirty to brush, and how one line about posture brought the Yoga Sutras back from the dead.

I also open up about my 10 day Vipassana sit, including the one hour sit where the pain got so deep I lost all sense of my body.
